California Now Requires Menus to Show Nutrition

California law now requires chain restaurants to put calorie counts on their menus and indoor menu boards. This makes California the first state to enact such a law.

Chains with 20 or more locations must post the information by 2011. Restaurants and drive-throughs will have to offer menus that provide information on the calories, saturated fat, carbohydrates and sodium in each item.

Restaurants that violate the rules could be fined $50 to $500.

Should read:
"California menus required to show malnutrition."

Big Mac-
48 g. of some sort of chemical oil from God knows where.
67g. of cardboard-o-hydrates
4,022g. of salt (but we will gladly hand you packets to add just a wee bit more)
28 g. of .... well.... it kinda looks like a beef patty.  But we really are thankful for the MSG that makes it seem like beef.
46mg. of RoundUp.  (can't quite get the stuff off of the little re-hydrated onions.  But it really makes it nice and shiny.  So we don't mind.

64 ounce Diet Coke- FREE REFILLS when you take advantage of our buy-one-get 2 for free promotion.

Some people believe that foods from fast food restaurants are nutritious.

The menus/food labels on package should also show how much nutrients they removed/destroyed during the processing of grains, cane sugar, dairy, fruit juice etc. Such as white flour vs. whole grain flour.

They should also display how much greenhouse gases produced, fossil fuel used, and pesticides used manufacturing the foods.

Getting your sugar from fresh fruits is very different from refined sugar even if you dilute it to equal GI.

Restaurants just don't get it.   I personally don't want to know the carbs,
fats, etc.   What I want to know is if it has things like corn syrup, msg, artificial colorings, dairy, eggs, preservatives, etc.
