Health Care Costs Up Twice as Much as Pay

A new report shows health insurance premiums for Nevada families are going up more than twice as fast as their earnings.

The report says that between 2000 and 2007, median earnings in Nevada rose 21.4 percent, from $25,411 to $30,859. During the same period, health care premiums for families rose by 54.6 percent, from $6,688 to $10,341.

The report also says that while Nevadans are paying more for health care, the amount of coverage is decreasing.

I wouldn't call our disgraceful medical system "health care".   Perhaps it should be called "wealth care", since it seems to be more geared to profiting from people's genuine health concerns, while not really improving their health.  Thankfully there are some truly concerned health care practitioners, like Dr Mercola, who give us good health information that we can use to help ourselves to better health.

Profit is a good thing, unfortunately competition is limited by the government.

It won't be long before no one can afford health care. We are just about at that point now. Health care along with every thing else going up, except of course your paycheck.

The only good thing that can come out of this is that you will then own your own health. You will look for ways to stay healthy with nutrition, supplements and exercise and look for alternatives to keep you out of the Dr's office.

With more and more regulations, it costs more to keep up with the paper work, not to mention people who won't pay so others have to pay for them.
