Ron Paul Stirs Up Presidential Debate

According to an online poll posted by MSNBC, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) handily won the first debate among Republican presidential candidates.

Paul garnered higher positive ratings and lower negative numbers than any of the other nine candidates on the stage. And in an ABC post-debate Internet survey, the congressman took more than 85 percent of the votes cast.

Online polls are not scientific, and a single person may vote in one poll multiple times; doing well in such a poll is therefore not necessarily reflective of how well a campaign is actually doing. But Internet buzz is often a sign of passionate or active supporters.

Paul has a strong online presence, and his supporters admire his commitment to abolishing the IRS, his steadfast opposition to a national ID card, and his forthright tone.

Dr. Mercola's Comment:

I am surprised but delighted that U.S. Rep. Ron Paul is DEMOLISHING his competition, and had such a galvanizing effect on the first Republican presidential debate. With the advent of the Internet he really does have a serious chance of being elected president. I don't believe the powers that be counted on the enormous influence of the Internet combined with a true Patriot.

Many in the mainstream media would have you thinking otherwise. They ignore these public opinion polls based on the belief Dr. Paul's supporters have simply mastered viral marketing techniques on the Internet to create the perception of political momentum.

Nevertheless, some political strategists believe these poll numbers will bode well in the short term for Dr. Paul, a Libertarian who follows the U.S. Constitution to the letter. This could result in more attention paid to him by the mainstream media, and better success in raising campaign funds.

Here's hoping that the extra attention will also help Dr. Paul, one of the very few physicians serving in Congress, gain traction with his positions on decreasing government involvement -- and mismanagement -- in the field of health care.

If you haven't seen Ron Paul yet I included two recent videos that would help you make up your own mind about him and determine for yourself if he isn't a real Patriot.

Ron Paul has a 30 year record that matches his words.  He is a true statesman in the manner of the founders of this country. We need more people like him in public office that don't pander to special interests, but obey the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution. We support him and plan to volunteer for his campaign here in Missouri.

I've been a reader of Dr. Mercola's website and vital votes for awhile now, and I just signed up. So first off, hello. Learning about natural health and nutrition issues from here and the Weston Price Foundation have helped me to lose over 50 lbs and regain much of my health. As I approach 30, I realize that I am probably healther now than I was at 20.

I am delighted that Dr. Mercola and some in the community are so excited about Ron Paul. I've been following him for awhile now, and I was very excited when he announced he was running for president. For those of us who want the continued freedom, or even more freedom to choose and have access to healthy foods and supplements. It is vital that Mr. Paul gets elected.

It's great that he's winning some online polls and being allowed in the debates, it's a good start... but for him to have a real shot, he's going to need some real help.

For those that want to help, Ron needs contributions, online and word of mouth support, and most importantly, continued mainstream media exposure. Tell your favorite news source that you want to find out more about Ron Paul, and if you see that Ron is not being fairly represented in the media, tell them about it! Don't let them get away with being biased. If any media outlet wants to be successful, they must give the people what they want.

Our gov't plain doesn't care about the ordinary citizen. Ron Paul I believe does. That is what makes him so dangerous to the status quo. He is one brave man. I pray for his safety.

This guy is the real deal.

The SCARE tactics on the right and Republicans now, is that it Ron Paul draws enough direct/popular vote, it will put Hillary in the White House, alla the argumentation on why Bush Senior lost to Ross Perot running as an independent.

Wouldn't be nice (to quote the Beach Boys' lyric) to prove BOTH corrupt and bought Democrats and Republicans WRONG, and put Paul in the White House for a real change?

The best way to put Dr. Paul (who gives back a portion of his salary back to American people every year and will not take his congressional pension) in the white house is to donate.

Please if you support him, give to the cause. Any amount will make a difference.
